Produced to the highest standards, Herpa diecast metal models are developed in collaboration with aircraft manufacturers and the airlines and are recognized by discerning model airplane collectors worldwide for their unparalleled, accurate realism, attention to detail and exceptional quality. True-to-scale, this Herpa 1/500 scale Fiji Airways Airbus A350-900 - "Island of Viti Levu" - Registration DQ-FAI - measures 5-1/4-inches long with a 5-1/16-inch wingspan. Fiji Airways, the national airline of the Republic of Fiji, located in the South Pacific, was founded in 1947 and received its exotic, yet extremely attractive livery in 2013, which was designed by a local artist. Comprising a fleet of 15 aircraft, which enables the airline to cover all market segments from regional to intercontinental routes, its flagship aircraft is an Airbus A350-900, of which the airline has two A350s. This A350-900, given the baptismal name "Island of Viti Levu," which is the largest island in the Republic of Fiji, is where the nation's capital is located and is also home to a large majority of Fiji's population. Noted as Airbus' first aircraft primarily manufactured of carbon fiber reinforced polymer, the Airbus A350-900, which succeeds the Airbus A340, was proposed by Airbus to compete against Boeing's 787 Dreamliner and went into service in 2015 as a long-range, wide-body airliner. While the A350-900 can seat from 300 to 350 passengers with an 8,100 nautical mile range, the A350-1000, which was introduced to go up against the Boeing 777, typically seats from 350 to 410 passengers with an 8,700 nautical mile range. Airbus also offers an Ultra-Long-Range version of its A350-900, the A350-900ULR, which can fly non-stop more than 20 hours up to 9,700 nautical miles.
